The arrival of a new baby in a family is a cause for joy and celebration. Very often families want to come to Church to mark the occasion in a service of Baptism. We are delighted to offer these services to those families living in the Parish, families who regularly worship in the Parish and those who have a strong family connection with the Parish.
If you are considering having a child baptised, please contact the Parish Office for an initial discussion.
If you’ve any doubts whether you live within the Parish boundary you can check here or, if you are are unsure whether you qualify by other means, please contact the Parish Office.
Baptism isn’t just for infants. Whatever age you might be, if you haven’t been baptised but would like to explore this as an expression to your personal faith, please get in touch with our rector or a service leader at any of our services.
We are delighted that you are considering a church wedding at either St Nicolas or St Michael & All Angels. You can get married in a Parish Church if either you or your partner live in the parish or if either of you are on the Church Electoral Roll. If you’ve any doubts whether you live within the Parish boundary you can check here.
Additionally, you can marry in a particular Parish Church if you have a Qualifying Connection with the Parish. Details on these Qualifying Connections are provided here.
If you are considering getting married at one of our Parish Churches, please contact the Parish Office.
If you are planning to get married in a church elsewhere but you or your partner live in this parish, you will need to have Banns read here. To do this, please contact the Parish Office.
Enquiries about funerals will normally come from Funeral Directors to the Rector. However you are welcome to discuss a funeral with our Rector.
Confirmation marks the point in a person’s journey of faith when they affirm the promises they made, or had made on their behalf, at their baptism. Like baptism, this is a time of celebration in a person’s life of faith.
Confirmation usually takes place after a person has explored his or her faith with others in the church. We offer confirmation preparation where key aspects of the Christian faith can be explored, and details of the confirmation service and the statements and promises a person makes are discussed. The preparation usually includes exploring prayer and worship, the Bible, the history of the church and its doctrines, so that the individual may understand more of the faith and the church family to which they belong. This will include helping the person to play a fuller part in the church and identifying points that will help him or her to grow as a Christian.
To discuss Confirmation, please contact the Parish Office.
